Election Commission of India’s largest engagement campaign with political parties

New Delhi/Raipur. New Delhi/Raipur. The Election Commission of India organized several structured engagement programs with political parties at the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO), District Election Officer (DEO) and Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) levels across the country. Over a period of 25 days and up to 31 March 2025, a total of 4,719 meetings were held, of which 40 were organized by CEO, 800 by DEO and 3,879 by ERO. More than 28,000 representatives of political parties from across the country participated in these meetings. These meetings were held in pursuance of the directions issued by Chief Election Commissioner Shri Gyanesh Kumar along with Election Commissioner Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Election Commissioner Dr. Vivek Joshi during the Conference of Chief Electoral Officers held at IIIDEM, New Delhi on 4-5 March 2025. The objective of these meetings is to resolve any pending issue by the concerned competent authority i.e. ERO or DEO or CEO within the legal framework prescribed in the Representation of the People Act, 1950 and 1951: Registration of Electors Rules, 1960, Conduct of Elections Rules, 1961 and manuals, guidelines and instructions issued by the Commission from time to time. Action taken reports have been sought from the CEOs of all States/UTs for further evaluation and if any issue remains unresolved, the same will be considered by the Commission within the existing legal framework. These meetings have been received with active and enthusiastic participation by political parties in Assembly constituencies, districts and States/UTs.
