Kondagaon. Ganeshi Markam, a resident of Bastarbuda village in the district’s Baderajpur district, has achieved remarkable success in the field of animal husbandry by joining the National Rural Livelihood Mission (Bihan). Today, Ganeshi Markam has established herself as “Lakhpati Didi.”
Ganeshi Markam is an active member of the Gayatri Mahila Self-Help Group. Through the group, she has transformed her economic and social life by adopting maize farming, goat rearing, and pig rearing as a means of livelihood. These activities generate an annual income of approximately ₹3.56 lakh (approximately ₹3.56 lakh).
She explained that before joining the group, she supported herself and her family through agricultural work, manual labor, and limited goat rearing. At that time, the family’s annual income was only ₹66,000. After joining Bihan, she received ₹15,000 in RF funding, ₹60,000 in CIF funding, and a loan from the group. Ganeshi started her goat rearing business with two goats, and today she has over two hundred goats in her pen, and has also started pig farming (10). Through hard work and regular care, her income has steadily increased, and she currently earns approximately three lakh rupees annually. These activities have not only made her self-sufficient, but she is also earning four times more than her previous income. She is also employing a person to care for the goats. Today, Ganeshi’s family’s financial situation has strengthened, and her social life has significantly improved.
In line with the vision of the Central and State governments, the National Rural Livelihood Mission team is providing ongoing support and guidance to empower such groups and women members to become self-reliant and self-reliant, enabling them to engage in various livelihood activities, become self-reliant, and strengthen their families’ economic status.
