Bilaspur. The demand for calcium and iron-rich moringa has increased in Bilaspur. A large quantity of moringa is being sent from here to Kolkata, Asansol and Bihar every day. At the same time, important research is also being done on it at Guru Ghasidas Central University.
Botany Department Professor SK Shahi said that efforts are being made to make cancer and anti-fungal medicines from moringa in the university. Budhwari Bazaar trader Santosh Sonkar said that 25-30 quintals of moringa are being exported daily from South Bihar, Kurla and Bilaspur-Tatanagar Express.
According to Professor Shahi, the scientific name of moringa or drumstick is Oleothera. Nano fertilizer and nano particles are being studied on it in the university. Moringa is considered a super food. It is rich in vitamins A, C, calcium and iron. Its powder, tablets and capsules are also available in the market.
