Four incidents of roof collapse in Abohar district

Punjab: Several areas of Abohar city were waterlogged and roofs of four buildings collapsed following heavy rains on Monday morning. Power supply was suspended for about 45 minutes as a precautionary measure. Radha Rani of Gali No. 10 in Nai Abadi area was injured after the roof of her house collapsed. She was pulled out of the debris by neighbours and admitted to a hospital. Another similar incident occurred in the same area, but there were no casualties. The roof of a construction material shop collapsed in Indira City area, burying two tractors and construction material under the debris. In the fourth such incident, a family had a narrow escape in Anand Nagri area. There were also reports of some vehicles overturning on potholed roads. Local residents, farmers and milk vendors also faced difficulties due to the inundated roads.

79 mm rain floods Bathinda

The 79 mm rain on Monday exposed the tall claims of the Bathinda Municipal Corporation. The city roads were inundated and low-lying areas were submerged in several feet of water. The worst-affected areas of the district include Power House Road, Administrative Complex area, Amrik Singh Road, Paras Ram Nagar, Sirki Bazaar, Bhatti Road and Mall Road.
