Crime disposal rate, quality define crime picture of district: DGP

Crime disposal rate and quality of disposal define the crime picture of a district or area.
This was said by DGP RR Swain while presiding over the monthly crime review meeting of Jammu Zone at ZPHQ Conference Hall here today.
During the meeting, the DGP stressed the need to increase crime disposal efficiency and create a comprehensive criminal database. They also discussed important aspects of improving investigation, especially focusing on NDPS and bovine trafficking cases.
Swain, the top police officer, stressed the limited nature of criminals and anti-social elements, urging officers to identify new individuals and motives while taking appropriate action.
He stressed the importance of maintaining an accurate crime and criminal record, saying that a strong database will aid in investigation and analytical use of data.
Addressing the issue of drug trade, which is considered extremely dangerous, the DGP highlighted its contribution in financing terrorist activities.
He advocated a comprehensive record of drug traffickers and consumers and urged the authorities to take strict, systematic action against those involved in the NDPS trade.
The directive included creating a ‘master list’ of vehicles with repeat offenders and indexing drivers and vehicles associated with drug transportation. Emphasis was also laid on strict action against cattle smugglers due to their connection with various illegal activities.
The DGP directed that vehicle owners repeatedly indulging in such trade will have to face consequences.
Officials agreed to set clear goals to reduce the crime rate, implementing effective strategies for success. In an inspiring move, the DGP announced awards recognizing the best district and police station for exceptional performance in investigation.
Swain commended the efforts of fellow officers who contribute to the force with dedication and encouraged the officers to imbibe the spirit of public service in any posting.
