Court orders seizure of immovable properties of OSRTC Sambalpur due to non-payment of lease dues

Sambalpur: As per the court orders, the officials have conducted a property seizure in Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) office in Sambalpur. Three computers, a table and a chair were seized.

The Senior Civil Judge Court directed officials to seize the movable properties. The Court order came due to non-return of the deposit previously deposited for bus transportation. In 1999, one Saroj Tripathi had leased a bus for one year from OSRTC by giving a security deposit of Rs 50,000. The OSRTC allegedly leased him a bus that was in a bad condition.

As the lease was only for one year, he repaired the bus and used the bus. However, the corporation asked him not to use the bus after six months. The aggrieved Tripathi asked OSRTC to repay his security deposit. However, OSRTC denied to repay the money.Tripathi filed a case in Sambalpur Civil Court in this matter in 2000. The said organisation did not return the money even after Court orders.

The court directed OSRTC to return Rs 3 lakh with interest, which the organisation did not pay following which the property was seized.
