Couple arrested, revelations in New Shanti Nagar theft case

Raipur. New Shanti Nagar theft case has come to light. The couple has been arrested. Recently, Deepak Gain had lodged a report in the Civil Line police station that he lives in New Shanti Nagar Street No. 02 Civil Line and does business of property dealing, fish farming and vegetables. The applicant has a two-storey house in which the applicant lives upstairs with his family and has an office downstairs. His nephew Pintu Gain also lives with the applicant and three maids work in the applicant’s house. On 23.12.2023, around 11.15 pm, the applicant was at home and smoke was spreading in the house. When he went down to the first floor of the house, he saw that the lock of the office was broken.

When the applicant went into the room, he saw that the fire was burning and the locker of the office cupboard was broken, the computer, hard disk, camera point and other documents were on fire, the fire was extinguished by the applicant and others and the same was burnt in the same room. I also had iron tools. When the applicant went to another room and saw that the lock of the cupboard kept there was broken, the cupboard was open and there was cash kept in the cupboard, 01 piece of gold chain, 01 piece of gold bracelet, 02 pieces of silver coin and 01 piece kept in the room. There was no mobile phone. An unknown thief had entered the applicant’s house and broken the lock of the cupboard and had stolen the said mashruka which was kept in the cupboard, that on the report of the applicant, crime number 598/23 section 457, 380 Bhadvi was registered against the unknown accused in the police station civil line. The crime of was registered.

On which, under the leadership of Deputy Superintendent of Police, Crime Dinesh Sinha, the joint team of Anti-Crime and Cyber Unit and Police Station Civil Lines Police inspected the incident site in detail and informed the applicant, his other family members and nearby people regarding the incident. A detailed inquiry was started to trace the unknown accused. CCTV installed at the incident site and its surroundings. Along with observing the camera footage, informers were also deployed in the case. Apart from separately interrogating the employees (maids) working in the applicant’s house, technical details were also obtained by collecting information regarding the employees who had left the job earlier. CCTV installed in the first floor of the applicant’s house by the team members. After closely observing the footage of the camera and the camera available around his house, it was found that immediately after the time of the incident, an orange moped carrying a woman in front and a man in the back, carrying what appeared to be a stolen bag, went outside on the main road. Thereafter, on the basis of the strong possibility that the said suspects were related to the incident, the team of Anti Crime and Cyber Unit scanned hundreds of CCTV cameras available on the routes through which the suspects had passed. The footage of the cameras was observed and technical details of the incident site and the entire route were obtained and analyzed through cyber cell. Keeping in view the involvement of the woman in the crime, technical evidence was collected by obtaining the details of all the present and former maids working in the applicant’s house. On the basis of which, a maid named Bindiya Goswami alias Bindi, who was previously working in the applicant’s house, was identified as the accused. After re-interrogating the applicant and collecting information regarding Bindiya Goswami alias Bindi on technical basis, it was revealed that she is a history-sheeter of Kotwali Mahasamund police station and has been involved in cases of attempt to murder, theft, falsification, Arms Act etc. in different police stations of Mahasamund and Raipur. She is the wife of vicious Nakbajan Avinash Giri Goswami, who has been jailed in more than 20 cases of Narcotic Act, assault and restrictive sections.

The team members worked hard to trace both of them and finally succeeded in catching Avinash Giri Goswami and Bindiya Goswami alias Bindi in Kanker. On strict interrogation by the team members, both of them were told to have carried out the above incident of theft in the applicant’s house.
On interrogation of the accused, it was revealed that in fact Bindiya Goswami alias Bindi was the sister-in-law of accused Avinash Giri Goswami, that both of them got married a few months ago and after a few days, accused Avinash Giri Goswami went to jail in a theft case from Mahasamund. During this time, Bindiya Goswami alias Bindi started working as a maid in the house of applicant Deepak Gain and used to live in the same house of the applicant. About 15 days before the date of incident, when accused Avinash Giri Goswami was released from jail, Bindiya Goswami alias Bindi left her work at the applicant’s house and both of them started living in Siltara Dharsiwa. Female accused Bindiya Goswami alias Bindi told her husband Avinash Giri Goswami that lakhs of rupees are kept in the cupboard of the applicant’s house every day, on which both of them together planned to commit theft in the applicant’s house and on the date of the incident, both of them were traveling in their two-wheeler.

They went to the applicant’s house and together they committed the theft and with the intention of hiding their identities, they installed CCTV cameras in the room. Cameras, DVRs, computers and other items were set on fire. After committing the theft, both of them went to Pachpedi Naka on a two-wheeler, parked the vehicle near Pachpedi Naka parking and went to Jagdalpur by bus, stayed in a lodge for a few days there and came back to their village Raita in Raipur. After a few days, both of them went to Kanker and started living in a rented house and with the stolen money, the accused bought one two-wheeler, gold jewellery, cupboard, bed, sofa, etc.Fridge, washing machine, mattress, mixer, fan, TV, home theater and other household items were purchased. Both the accused were arrested and the stolen cash amount of Rs 11,69,000/-, gold bracelets, 03 pieces of watches and gold jewellery, 01 piece of two-wheeler, cupboard, bed, fridge, washing machine were purchased with the stolen money. Machine, mattress, mixer, fan, TV, home theater and other items worth approximately Rs. 20,00,000/- and 01 two-wheeler used in the theft incident were seized and both the accused were arrested and action was taken.
