Ambikapur. On Friday night, BJP councilor Sikandar Jaiswal along with his colleagues beat up a nurse and her son over the dispute over flag hoisting on Republic Day in Ambikapur. During this time there were about 15-20 people with the councilor. Following the complaint of mother and son, the police have arrested four accused including the councillor. The matter is of Kotwali police station area. Nurse Nisha Soni, resident of Ghutrapara, lives with her son Ashu Soni.
The nurse told that she is also a member of an organization named Jan Adhikar Parishad. Every year on 15 August and 26 January, the flag is hoisted on the platform built near the society. When she reached to hoist the flag on January 26, she saw that the flag was already hoisted. Nurse Nisha Soni told that Kanhaiya Baghel of the same locality had hoisted the flag. When he asked Kanhaiya, he started arguing with him. He asked in what capacity do you hoist the flag? When he said that he was a member of the organization, he started arguing. When they protested, the mother and son were abused and beaten.
The victim nurse says that at around 9 pm, 15-20 people including BJP councilor Sikandar Jaiswal, Kanhaiya Baghel, Akash Gupta alias Tinku, Ajay Sarathi broke the door and entered her house. They abused him and beat him and his son with kicks and punches. During this time, his son was also taken away, who was rescued by the police who were out on patrol. It is being told that when the police patrolling team reached near the nurse’s house, the councilor and his associates got into a fight with them and misbehaved with them. Not only this, when the matter reached the police station, about two dozen people including the councilor started creating ruckus in the police station. Ambikapur CSP Smriti Rajnala said that there was a fight over hoisting the flag. Four accused, including the BJP councilor who entered the house and assaulted him, have been arrested. Meanwhile, search is on for other absconding accused. The arrested accused are councilors Sikandar Jaiswal, Kanhaiya Baghel, Akash Gupta alias Tinku and Ajay Sarathi.
