One person reportedly died after a CMF Phone 1 exploded while he was driving his motorcycle in India. The incident reportedly took place in Maharashtra. Another person was also injured in this incident.

According to an X post, the CMF Phone 1 was purchased recently, just a little over a month ago. The device exploded when the victim was driving from Kolhapur to Sangli. Following the explosion, the driver lost control and got into an accident which resulted in his death and another person critically injured.

According to sources, the battery burst, which resulted in the phone being exploded. However, there is no confirmation about this report yet.

Meanwhile, the exact cause of the explosion is yet to be known. Nothing is yet to give an official statement and investigate the incident.

It remains to be seen if overheating was among the main culprits alongside the battery, but do note that the details are sketchy at the moment and there’s no confirmation of what exactly happened. The Nothing sub-brand had confirmed that the smartphone is ‘Made in India’. Notably, more than 100,000 units of the CMF Phone 1 were sold within 3 hours of the first sale in the country.

It’s always recommended to be aware if your smartphone starts overheating or if the back panel starts to protrude indicating a swollen battery.
