Giving information, Forest Divisional Officer, Dharamjaygarh Forest Division said that on June 14, 2023, room number 564 RF of Purunga complex under forest area bark. 01 wild animal wild elephant male cub was found dead in a place named Chowkdhoda. Whose information was given by Mr. Vinod Kumar Patel of village Purunga to the area assistant Hati at 6.30 pm. In relation to the incident, the range assistant Hati gave it to the water range officer Chaal. As soon as the information was received, the subordinate forest staff of the range office reached the spot and senior officials were informed. On-the-spot inspection was carried out. As it was night, the subordinate staff were put on duty to look after the incident site.
On the morning of June 15, 2023, spot inspection was done again at the incident site and forest crime case was issued. Veterinary officers were informed for autopsy. Sub Divisional Forest Officer Dharamjaigarh and Forest Range Officer Chaal and their subordinate Forest Anals along with their subordinate Forest Officers conducted a detailed investigation of the site. No incriminating evidence was found near the scene of the incident and it was found in the spot inspection that the wild cub seems to have died in the mutual conflict between the elephants. Dissection of the dead body of the dead wild elephant cub was done by the district-level constituted veterinary committee in front of the Divisional Forest Officer, Deputy Forest Officer, Dharamjaygarh and the local Panches and a sample of the organs of the dead elephant cub was prepared for poisoning test. After that, the body of the dead elephant was shrouded and buried by duly digging a pit. According to the post-mortem report, the wild male cub had internal and external injuries, which resulted in the death of the elephant cub due to interference during the struggle. Advance proceedings are going on in the case.
