Chandigarh: More than 100 units of blood collected in the camp
Chandigarh: The Tribune Employees Union today organised a blood donation camp to mark the 126th death anniversary of Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, founder of the Tribune Trust. Over 100 units of blood were collected at the camp, which was inaugurated by Justice S S Sodhi (Retd), Trustee, Tribune Trust. Gurbachan Jagat, another Tribune Trust Member, was also present on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Justice Sodhi congratulated the Tribune Employees Union for taking up this social cause. He said, “This is a selfless, social act and I congratulate all the employees who regularly donate blood for unknown people.
We appreciate you for this. As Trustees we have been associated with these social causes promoted by employees for many years.” Earlier, welcoming the guests and blood donors, Tribune Employees Union President Anil Kumar Gupta said that this camp is being organised every year since 1989. “The Tribune Employees Union organises blood donation camps twice a year. This is the best way to pay tribute to the founder by serving the needy,” he said. The employees who have donated blood more than 30 times include Anil Kumar Gupta (59), Darshan Singh Sodhi (50), Kamal Kumar (46), Dapinder Singh (38), Vipin Joshi (38), Manish Malhotra (37), Ruchika M Khanna (35) and Rajesh Malik (32). Jyoti Malhotra, Editor-in-Chief, The Tribune Group of Publications, Amit Sharma, General Manager, The Tribune Trust, Naresh Kaushal, Editor, Dainik Tribune, Arvinder Kaur, Acting Editor, Punjabi Tribune and Rani Poddar, Principal, The Tribune School were also present on the occasion. The camp was organised in collaboration with the Department of Transfusion Medicine, PGIMER under the supervision of Dr Suchet Sachdev.
