Dhamtari. Acting on the instructions of the Superintendent of Police, strict surveillance and checking of vehicles are being carried out continuously in the Borai police station area, located at the far end of the district. This is effectively curbing illegal activities such as the smuggling of cannabis, illicit liquor, illegal paddy, and other illegal businesses.
In this connection, during a routine vehicle check by the Borai police station, an attempt was made to stop a black CD Deluxe motorcycle coming from Odisha towards Borai. When the vehicle was stopped, the person sitting on the back dismounted, while the driver sped away on the motorcycle and escaped from the spot.

Due to the suspicious activities of the person sitting on the back, an attempt was made to apprehend him, during which he also tried to escape, but was caught by the police staff. In the presence of witnesses, a search of the bag carried by the accused, Shivlal Netam, son of Amarsingh Netam (age 30 years), resident of Tarangpuri, Kundai Police Station, Nabarangpur District (Odisha), revealed 480 grams of illegal cannabis, estimated to be worth Rs. 24,000/-. A total of Rs. 24,500/- worth of narcotics and cash, including Rs. 500/- in cash, was seized from the accused.
In this regard, a case has been registered at Borai police station under crime number 11/25, Section 20(b) of the NDPS Act. The accused has been arrested and sent to jail on judicial remand.
