Bhubaneswar: Senior BJP leader Jagannath Pradhan was released from the Jharpada Jail in Bhubaneswar this evening hours after getting bail in the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) official assault case.
Hundreds of his supporters along with family members and friends including Bhubaneswar Ekamra-Bhubaneswar MLA Babu Singh received Pradhan.
Earlier in the day the District and Sessions Court in Khurda had granted him bail in lieu of a Rs 30,000 bond and one person as surety.
Notably, the Commissionerate police arrested Jagannath Pradhan after he surrendered himself before Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena’s office on July 3.
Later, police forwarded the BJP leader to the Bhubaneswar SDJM court after registering a case against him under several charges of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). These include Sections 121(1), 121(2), 132, 189(2), 190, 3(5), 304/333, 351(2), 54/61(2), and 62. However, the court sent him to Jharpada Jail after rejecting his bail.
