BJP leader in trouble, relative girl accuses him of rape

Vidisha: In Vidisha district of Madhya Pradesh, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Yogendra Singh Solanki has been booked for rape by a 23-year-old girl, his close relative. The state unit of BJP distanced itself from the accused and said that Solanki has resigned. Solanki is absconding since the allegations were made and the police have not been able to arrest him yet.

Former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh also cornered BJP President JP Nadda while sharing the news of the allegations against Solanki. He asked whether this has become the conduct, character and face of BJP? He further wrote that I am not tagging Dr BD Sharma ji and Shivraj Singh Chauhan ji because there is no hope from them.

Police inspector Ashutosh Singh Rajput said that a case has been registered against BJP’s Vidisha district unit vice-president Yogendra Singh Solanki under sections 376 (punishment for rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the then Indian Penal Code as the crime was committed before the implementation of the Indian Penal Code (BNS) in July.

He said that an FIR was lodged on December 5 based on the complaint of a woman and action will be taken based on the investigation. Solanki resigned on Sunday night after the rape case was registered, alleging that he was being framed. He said that he wanted to stay out of the party until he was cleared of the rape charge. Vidisha BJP district president Rakesh Singh Jadoun said, “Solanki is no longer in the BJP. His resignation was accepted today (Monday).”

Meanwhile, the police officer said that the victim was being sexually exploited for a long time. Rajput said, “According to the complainant, the accused had access to her house. The police will send her medical report for forensic examination.’ Vidisha Superintendent of Police Rohit Keshwani said that the police took swift action after the incident came to light.
