Bengaluru techie forced to resigns from Google over dispute linked to his YouTube channel

Arpit Bhayani, a Bengaluru-based software engineer, has left Google following a controversy involving his educational YouTube page and online classes, claiming that the case became so critical that he could no longer work at the company.

Bhayani, having been employed at Google to work on in-memory database systems, has announced his choice, which is that his outside content creation activity conflicted with the company policy. He indicated that the issue later on involved the legal department of the company, whereby he opted to resign. On January 10 he had his final working day at Google.

The engineer made it clear that leaving the firm was not something he had strategized to do regarding his career. He expressed disappointment with abandoning technical labour and his staff, but said that the situation left him with no other option.

Bhayani has a successful software engineering teaching platform on YouTube with his name, and he produces computer science concepts videos and coursework. He pointed out that although he appreciated his experience at Google and the people he shared the same working environment, the disagreement over his independent work could not be resolved.

Meanwhile, Arpit Bhayani’s resignation has created a broader debate within the Indian tech community regarding the limits of corporations on side projects, particularly through the involvement of employees in teaching, content creation, or communal education in addition to full-time work at some of the largest technology companies.
