Basudevpur: Mid-day meal (MDM) was not prepared at the Shukdevpur Project Upper Primary (UP) School in the Basudevpur Municipality on Monday, leaving 133 children without lunch, officials said.
According to headmaster Umesh Chandra Katha, the school cook did not prepare the food due to a lack of funds for the MDM. He said, “The cook could not prepare the food, so the students did not receive any.”
Following the incident, Assistant Block Education Officer (ABEO) Amiya Kumar Mahalik directed CRCC Sarveshwar Malik to investigate the matter.
The District Education Officer (DEO) has also been informed.
Local residents expressed concern over the incident, citing previous complaints that students were served substandard food and were severely punished.
They demanded immediate administrative action to ensure proper implementation of the MDM scheme.
Officials said repeated negligence in providing good quality food had sparked anger in the community, forcing them to closely monitor the situation.
