Balangir police busts sex racket, arrests 3 customers; Woman rescued

Balangir: Balangir Town Police busted a sex racket operating from a guest house near Rajendra Park in the town late on Tuesday night and arrested three men and rescued a woman.

Acting on a tip-off, Balangir Superintendent of Police (SP) directed the Town Police Station to conduct a raid on Tripati Guest House, situated near the Rajendra Park.

Soon, a team of cops under the leadership of Balangir Town Police Station IIC raided the Guest House and busted the flesh trading racket. They arrested three youths and rescued a woman from one of the rooms of the Guest House.

Later, a case was registered under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act and the arrested persons, who are said to be the residents of Kandhamal district, were forwarded to the court.

Meanwhile, the rescued woman, a resident of Cuttack, was sent to a rehabilitation centre.

While speaking about the sex racket, Balangir SDPO In-Charge Sanjaya Kumar Mandal, said, “As per the direction of the SP, the Balangir Town Police Station IIC formed a team including a lady sub-inspector inspected the Tripati Guest House during which we found three accused persons and apprehended them. We registered a Town Police Station case no 107/25 under sections 4,5, 6 and 7 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act. They have been forwarded to the court.”

“All the three accused persons are from Kandhamal area. We have started an investigation to find out others involvement in the case or in such rackets,” he added.

The busting of the flesh trading racket has shocked the people of the locality and become a topic of discussion among them.
