Arunachal: School celebrates Golden Jubilee

KHONSA: The golden jubilee, commemorating 50 years of Bo-Peep Upper Primary School here in Tirap district, was celebrated with immense enthusiasm, pride, and grandeur at the school premises on Thursday.

Organised under the aegis of the Women Welfare Association (WWA), Khonsa, the celebration marked a significant milestone in the institution’s remarkable journey of nurturing young minds and contributing immensely towards the educational and social development of the region over the past five decades.

Among the attendees were Education Minister PD Sona, Borduria-Bogapani MLA Wanglin Lowangdong, Panchayati Raj Minister Ojing Tasing, Khonsa East MLA Wanglam Sawin, Tirap Deputy Commissioner Techu Aran, Khonsa ADC Namneet Singh, SP Aditya, ZPC John KK Matey; ZPMs from various blocks, Tirap unit BJP president Lankham Wangsu, and Nocte Women Association chairperson Chasuam Wangchadong, along with several dignitaries, alumni, parents, and well-wishers.

Addressing the participants, WWA chairperson Sontung Lowang Bangsia presented an overview of the school’s journey since its establishment in 1975. Reflecting on the institution’s humble beginnings, she highlighted how the school gradually evolved into one of the most respected centres of learning in the district through dedication, perseverance, and community support.

She expressed gratitude to students, parents, teachers, alumni, and well-wishers for their unwavering support throughout the years, and acknowledged the pivotal role played by the WWA in managing and nurturing the institution.

A major highlight of the celebration was the release of the golden jubilee souvenir book by Sona. The souvenir documents the institution’s rich history, achievements, milestones, and memories spanning the last 50 years.

Sona in his address emphasised the importance of quality education, and stated that the true potential of every child can only be realised through dedicated and sincere teachers. Congratulating the school on achieving the remarkable milestone, he lauded the WWA for its immense contribution towards strengthening the educational landscape of Tirap district.

Highlighting the implementation of the National Education Policy, he said that education is being transformed into a more immersive, innovative, and activity-based system to move away from rote learning. He also spoke about reforms being introduced in the transfer and posting system of teachers to ensure greater accountability, transparency, and commitment. Assuring continued support to the institution, he encouraged the school authorities and teachers to remain steadfast in their mission of imparting quality education.

Responding to a memorandum submitted by the WWA chairperson, Sona announced Rs 2 crore in the next financial year for the construction of two classrooms.

Tasing also congratulated the school management, teachers, and the WWA for nurturing generations of students and contributing immensely towards educational development in the region.

Lowangdong in his address expressed appreciation for the institution’s achievements, and acknowledged the dedication and collective efforts of the school community over the years.

Deputy Commissioner Aran and MLA Sawin also addressed the gathering and appreciated the remarkable contribution of the school towards educational advancement in Tirap district.

The celebration witnessed enthusiastic participation of students, teachers, alumni, parents, and members of the public, making the occasion a memorable and historic event for the people of Khonsa.
