ITANAGAR: One person died on the spot and three others were seriously injured in an accident near Yapik village in Arunachal Pradesh’s Shi-Yomi district on Sunday morning. Sunny Wangsu, officer-in-charge of the Tato police station, said the incident occurred between 12 a.m. and 1 a.m. Sunday night when four people travelling in a Mahindra Scorpio fell into a deep gorge near Yapik village. Police said the vehicle was travelling from Shi-Yomi to Aalo in West Siang district when the accident occurred. The vehicle fell approximately 70 to 80 meters below the road. Police said they were unsure of the cause of the accident and suspected the driver may have fallen asleep. Police identified the victim as advocate Sandeep Kumar Sain (40), a businessman from Aalo and originally from Rajasthan. Police said officials brought the body to the district hospital in Tato, where doctors will conduct a post-mortem. Police admitted the injured, who were in critical condition, to the Alo Zonal General Hospital for treatment. Police said they were unable to obtain the names of the injured because they were unable to speak. However, they added that all the passengers were from other countries.
