Almatti dam height: MB Patil urges CM Fadnavis not to create unnecessary controversy

Karnataka : Minister for Industries and Vijayapura District In-charge M.B. Patil has urged Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis not to create unnecessary controversy over the issue of height of Almatti dam.
Speaking to media representatives, Fadnavis said that Fadnavis should not spoil the harmony between the two states by raising such irrelevant issues.
He stressed that all elected representatives should forget their party affiliations and unite on the issue of Karnataka’s land and language. We all should come together to protect our land and water.
Responding to a letter written by Fadnavis to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah alleging that the height of Almatti dam will lead to flooding in parts of Maharashtra like Kolhapur, M.B. Patil said that the Karnataka government’s decision to increase the height of the dam has the support of legal experts and Maharashtra has unnecessarily fuelled the controversy. Karnataka has no need to worry.
Appealing to the Maharashtra Chief Minister to prevent deterioration of harmony between the two states, Patil said such issues should be resolved through mutual cooperation.
