New Delhi. Bengali film actress Srila Majumdar died in Kolkata on Saturday. The news of Srila’s death has left the industry in mourning. She was suffering from ovarian cancer for the last three and a half years. Srila Majumdar’s battle with this deadly disease ended on Saturday.Srila was admitted to Tata Medical Cancer Center Hospital from 13 to 20 January. After this he was brought home. Srila’s husband SNM Abdi said that she had fallen ill in November last year. She was at home at that time. His son Sohail Abdi lives in London for his studies. He returned to the country due to his mother’s physical condition deteriorating.
Srila was last seen on the big screen in Kaushik Gangopadhyay’s film Palaan. But he was last seen off-screen last year at Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s Vijaya Sammelan program at the Alipore Jail Museum. In 1980, Mrinal Sen’s film ‘Parshuram’ introduced Srila to the world of acting. Srila was 16 years old then. Sreela has always been seen in other films.
