According to the orders of Collector Prabhat Malik and under the guidance of District Excise Officer Mohit Jaiswal, in connection with the action against those making and selling illegal liquor, on December 31, the Excise Department Circle Saraipali, Mahasamund received information from an informer in Village- Jogideepa, Police Station Saraipali. On this basis, after raiding the house of accused Vidyadhar Chauhan, a raw Mahua liquor furnace mounted on the stove was found on the spot in his house and courtyard and during the search on the spot, 70 liters of hand furnace raw Mahua liquor and 7 pieces filled in plastic polythene and polythene packets were found. About 1400 kg of fermented Mahuva Lahan capable of making liquor was recovered in plastic drums. The accused fled from the spot after getting wind of the raid, in front of which the Panchan Panchnama was prepared. A crime has been registered against the said absconding accused under Section 34(1)(a), (f) 34(2), 59(a) of the Excise Act and investigation is being done to trace the said absconding accused.
In other proceedings, 10 liters of hand kiln raw Mahua liquor and 800 kg of Mahua Lahan in fermented state capable of making liquor were seized from the possession of accused Madhusudan Sahu, age 30 years, of village-Nunpani police station Saraipali and accused Sadanand Sahu, age 28 years. 10 liters of hand kiln raw Mahua liquor and 700 kg of fermented Mahua Lahan capable of making liquor were also seized and sections 34(1)(a)(f), 34(2), 59( of the Excise Act were registered against the above two accused. A case was registered under IPC and both the accused were arrested and sent to jail on remand from the Honorable Court.
