Accused arrested in NEET fake paper case allowed to appear for law exam

Madhya Pradesh: An accused arrested for allegedly selling fake NEET exam question papers and OMR sheets was taken to a law college by the Crime Branch on Tuesday to appear for his first-year law examination. This was permitted following a court order granting him leave to take the test.

According to the police, the accused, Akshay Malviya, was arrested on Sunday. He is accused of creating fake NEET question papers and OMR sheets and selling them via online platforms by passing them off as genuine. The surfacing of this case has raised serious questions regarding the security of the education and examination systems.

DCP (Crime) Rajesh Kumar Tripathi stated that the accused was escorted to the law college under tight security to take the exam. A police team maintained constant surveillance during the examination, and the entire process was conducted in accordance with court directives.

Reports indicate that this special permission was granted because the accused was already pursuing a law degree and his examination was scheduled. The court allowed him to appear for the exam on humanitarian grounds while ensuring that he could not interfere with the investigation process in any way.

Police investigations have revealed that Akshay Malviya allegedly created fake NEET question papers and established a network to sell them as authentic exam material. The operation was conducted through online platforms, raising concerns that a large number of students may have been affected.

The Crime Branch is now conducting an in-depth investigation into the entire network. Police are working to identify other individuals involved in the gang and determine the extent of the distribution of the fake papers.

Officials state that such activities not only undermine the credibility of the examination system but also jeopardize the futures of lakhs of students. Consequently, the matter is being treated with great seriousness, and a technical investigation is also underway.

The accused is currently in judicial custody, and legal proceedings under relevant sections are ongoing. Police say that further revelations may emerge once the investigation is concluded.
