Accident at the anicut, two teenagers drown.
Surajpur: Two minor students drowned in the deep waters of the Mohra Anicut in Ramnagar area of the district on Sunday while bathing. Upon receiving the information, teams from the District Disaster Response Force (DDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) reached the spot and launched a search operation. However, the boys could not be found until late evening. Due to darkness, the rescue operation had to be suspended on Sunday night. For safety reasons, the search was not possible at night, and the area was cordoned off and secured.
According to reports, on Sunday afternoon, Adil Ansari (12 years old), son of Seraj Ansari, a resident of Shivanandanpur, and Ayan Saddam (15 years old), son of Mohammad Javed, a resident of Jaynagar Kunjnagar, had gone to the Ramnagar Mohra Anicut with their friends.
While there, Adil and Ayan went into the dam to bathe, but they were quickly swept away into the deep water and drowned. After approximately three hours of searching, which resumed on Monday morning, the SDRF recovered the bodies of both minors. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.
