New Delhi: Before the start of the interim budget session, Aam Aadmi Party leader Swati Maliwal on Wednesday offered prayers at Hanuman Temple in Connaught Place, Delhi.
Swati Maliwal posted on Twitter, “Before taking oath in Rajya Sabha today, CP took blessings by bowing his head at the feet of Bajrangbali at the ancient Hanuman temple. Jai Shri Ram, Jai Bajrangbali.”
The former chief of Delhi Women Commission will take oath as a Rajya Sabha member of Aam Aadmi Party today.
Aam Aadmi Party leader Swati Maliwal said, “This budget should be such that it benefits women, farmers, the poor, youth and the middle class.”
Earlier on January 12, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) members Sanjay Singh, Swati Maliwal and ND Gupta were elected unopposed as Rajya Sabha members.
After being elected Rajya Sabha MP, Swati Maliwal said that she will perform her duties with true devotion and honesty.
Swati Maliwal said, “Today a new responsibility is starting. Thousands of women came to encourage him. I assure all the people of Delhi that I will serve you with true devotion and honesty. Thanks to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. “
The AAP leader also called on the government to take special interest in issues related to crimes against women.
“Women across the country are breaking all barriers and obstacles to move forward… Women safety is a burning issue in the country. Crimes against women and children are increasing every hour. My request to the Central Government is that it should take special Please pay attention to this issue and find a drastic solution to this problem…If someone at the top of the government is involved in such crimes, they should be prosecuted even more strictly.Also, I am a strong supporter of domestic security. I demand a law to help prevent such crimes…” the AAP leader had said on the occasion of Republic Day.
All three candidates had filed their nominations in the national capital on January 8.
AAP has re-nominated Sanjay Singh and ND Gupta for a second term, while Swati Maliwal, who was the former chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), has been sent to the Rajya Sabha for the first time. Swati Maliwal is replacing Sushil Gupta.
