On this occasion, Chief Minister Sai also launched 10,000 livelihood pond construction works under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGA). These ponds are targeted for completion by May 2026. These ponds will be constructed on the private land of eligible beneficiaries under MNREGA, including beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural). This will not only boost rural employment generation but also ensure a sustainable increase in the livelihood and income of farmers and rural families.
During the program, sanction letters for livelihood ponds were also distributed to beneficiaries of the Janman Awas Yojana in Kawardha district and to beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural) under a special project for surrendered Naxalites and families affected by Naxal violence in Narayanpur district, marking a significant step towards social rehabilitation and mainstreaming.
