Shimla Health Minister announces Tanda Medical College revamp

Health Minister Dhani Ram Shandil announced on Friday that the infrastructure at Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College and Hospital in Tanda, Kangra district, will be strengthened to increase postgraduate medical seats and improve facilities for students enrolled in medical laboratory technology (MLT) and nursing programs. The minister chaired a meeting of the medical college’s governing body, the Patient Welfare Committee, via video conferencing. He stated that the college has recently installed several advanced medical technologies, including high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), and hemodiafiltration (HDF) dialysis systems, which will significantly improve diagnostic and critical care services.
Shandil also stated that efforts will be made to increase parking space at the hospital to improve public convenience. He added that outdated medical equipment in government medical colleges is being replaced with state-of-the-art technology. To improve the quality and efficiency of medical services, modern diagnostic equipment, including MRI scanners, CT scanners, digital radiography, and digital mammography systems, are being installed at healthcare institutions.
The Minister reviewed the institutions’ achievements and overall performance over the past three financial years, focusing on strengthening patient care and improving healthcare services. He stated that the state government is committed to transforming the healthcare sector by upgrading medical infrastructure and ensuring that people receive high-quality treatment near their homes. He added that several major steps have been taken over the past three and a half years to modernize healthcare facilities in the state.
