Mega health camps were organised for the first time in 7 villages of the highly Maoist-affected area.

Bijapur. Once shrouded in the shadow of Maoism, a new dawn of development is now visible in the villages across the Indravati River in Bhairamgarh block of Bijapur district. The positive results of the Chhattisgarh government’s Rehabilitation Policy 2025 are now visible on the ground. Following the surrender of a large number of Maoists, the administration for the first time organized a mega health camp simultaneously in seven villages in these remote areas, bringing a ray of hope to the villagers.
A team of specialist doctors participated in this campaign. The team organized health camps in Uspari, Belnar, Satwa, Kosalnar, Tadpot, Utla, and Itampar villages. A total of 989 villagers underwent health checkups. The camps examined 777 general checkups, 371 blood pressure checkups, 344 oral cancer checkups, 112 breast cancer checkups, 199 eye checkups, 154 dental checkups, 14 vaccinations, 8 complete vaccinations, 156 malaria checkups, 7 tuberculosis checkups, and 24 cases of vomiting and diarrhea. These included 54 senior citizens.
Experts diagnosed a child with heart disease, who will receive high-level medical care under the “Chirayu Yojana.” During the camp, sick villagers were treated on the spot and free medicines were distributed. Pediatricians Dr. Anurup Sahu and Dr. B.S. Sahu stated that healthcare facilities are now becoming accessible in remote areas, which is expected to significantly improve maternal and infant mortality rates. Fear is now being replaced by trust and hope among villagers. They are becoming more aware of education, health, and basic amenities by engaging with the government and administration.
Bijapur Collector Sambit Mishra congratulated the health department team, saying, “As per government directives, the administration is committed to providing education, health, and basic amenities to the last person. Under the “Niyad Nellanar Yojana,” development work in the interior areas has accelerated, and administrative teams are working diligently.” Positive changes are now visible in Bijapur.
This initiative in Bijapur is not only proving to be a milestone in increasing the reach of health services, but is also giving the message that now not Maoism, but mainstream and development will become the new identity of Bijapur.
