Newly elected councillors took oath in Dharamshala

Congratulating the newly elected representatives, Bairwa urged them to work collectively for the holistic and balanced development of the Municipal Corporation and stressed that public representatives should rise above differences to effectively address civic issues.
The councillors who took oath include Rekha Devi (Ward-1 Forsythganj), Shamsher Nehria (Ward-2 Bhagsunag), Asha Devi (Ward-3 McLeodganj), Neenu Sharma (Ward-4 Kashmir House), Shailja (Ward-5 Khajanchi Mohalla), Karishma Chhetri (Ward-6 Kotwali Bazaar), Ashu (Ward-7 Secretariat), Prerna Guleria (Ward-8 Sports Complex), Naresh Kumar (Ward-9 Sakoh). Sudesh Shastri (Ward 10 Shyamnagar), Anurag (Ward 11 Ramnagar), Meena Kumari (Ward 12 Baroli), Harsh Oberoi (Ward 13 Dadi), Anuj Bisht (Ward 14 Kand), Parveen Kumar (Ward 15 Khaniyara), Anupam Katoch (Ward 16 Sidhpur), and Vishal Jamwal (Ward 17 Sidhbari).
However, the election for the posts of Mayor and Deputy Mayor could not be held due to the absence of five Congress councillors and the lone independent councillor. Their absence reduced the House membership to 11, falling short of the three-quarters quorum required for the election.
The election has now been rescheduled for July 1, when the voting process will require only a simple majority of the elected councillors. Dharamshala MLA Sudhir Sharma attended the ceremony as the chief guest. Municipal Corporation Commissioner Zafar Iqbal, Joint Commissioner Surendra Katoch, SDM Mohit Ratan, officers of various departments and dignitaries were also present.
