95 year old woman brought to grievance cell on cot in Subarnapur

Subarnapur: A 95 year old woman came to the grievance cell in Subarnapur district of Odisha. Though old age pension amount has increased she is yet to get the increased amount. Hence, she wanted to come to the grievance cell to put her grievance in this matter. On her request, a few social worker brought her to the grievance cell on a cot.

The old woman is not capable of even speak properly. She is not capable to walk. However, she decided to get her rights.

The incident took place in Tarbha of Subarnapur district today. She has been identified as Peera Chauhan of Singhari village under Tarbha block.

As per the information, after the new government came to power in Odisha, the old age pension has been increased to Rs 3500 to those above the age of 80. However, Peera is still being given only Rs 1500 as pension.

Despite repeated complaints to the local block administration, Peera was not being given the increased allowance as per the new government rules. She has only one daughter, while her daughter and son-in-law have also been receiving allowance for 12 years now.

However, due to her advanced age, Peera can now neither walk nor speak properly. She was hoping to get the government’s increased allowance before her death, had to file a complaint today. As a result, some social workers were seen carrying Peera on a cot to the grievance cell today.
