62nd Nagaland Statehood Day: Governor calls for sustainable economic development

Nagaland: Addressing the citizens of Nagaland on the eve of the 62nd Statehood Day, Governor La Ganesan noted the remarkable achievements in various fields, however, he also said that the state needs to focus on various areas including economic growth and infrastructure development. The Governor called for intensified efforts to promote sustainable development that will provide opportunities to all. “We must work collectively to improve healthcare, connectivity infrastructure, preserve our environment and ensure that every Naga can enjoy a decent standard of living,” the Governor said in his address on November 30, 2024.

” Extending his greetings on the occasion, the Governor also paid tribute to the “unwavering spirit and determination” of the forefathers of the state who “worked tirelessly to carve out a unique identity for Nagaland in the vast tapestry of India.” Further, he stressed that the citizens must recognise that the hard-earned peace in the state is a “priceless gift” and must be preserved with “utmost care and responsibility”. The Governor said that our common goal must be to continue building a society based on mutual respect, understanding and unity.

Standing that vibrant festivals and rich cultural expressions are testimony to unity and diversity, the Governor emphasised on a Nagaland that is strong in industry, education and innovation and reiterated his commitment to “support initiatives that advance our State and its people.”
