As many as 16 Maoists, including two hardcore members of the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) battalion, surrendered to authorities in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh on Monday.

The hardcore Maoists belonged to the Bhairamgarh area of East Bastar Division. There was a reward of Rs. 28 lakh in their names. 24 Maoists surrendered after being attracted by the rehabilitation scheme of the Chhattisgarh government.
Bijapur SP Jitendra Chauhan said that all kinds of help and cooperation will be provided to them to join the mainstream of society.
Recently as many as nine hardcore Maoists surrendered in Chhattisgarh. Nine hardcore Maoists had surrendered to the Sukma SP of Chhattisgarh bordering Malkangiri district.
