10 Tamil Nadu fishermen captured and tortured by Sri Lankan Navy

Tamil Nadu: The Sri Lankan Navy has arrested 10 Tamil Nadu fishermen on charges of fishing across the border, causing a stir.
Fishermen from Rameswaram in Ramanathapuram district, with the necessary permits, had set out on a motorboat from Pamban Port on Wednesday to fish. While the fishermen were fishing between Dhanushkodi and Thalaimannar, the Sri Lankan Navy, patrolling the route, surrounded the fishing boat and arrested the 10 Tamil Nadu fishermen on board, alleging that they were fishing across the border. They also confiscated the fishing boat and took it to the Thalaimannar Naval Camp.
Sri Lankan Navy officials are reportedly questioning the fishermen there, and after the interrogation, the 10 Tamil Nadu fishermen will be produced in a Sri Lankan court and sent to jail. Information about the arrested fishermen
will only be revealed after the investigation. The arrest of Tamil Nadu fishermen by the Sri Lankan Navy on charges of fishing across the border has become a recurring issue. Furthermore, the confiscation of Tamil Nadu fishermen’s powerboats and their transfer to the state, the imposition of fines on arrested fishermen, attacks on fishermen, firing, and harassment by Sri Lankan pirates have also been a major problem for Tamil Nadu fishermen.
Fishermen’s organizations have demanded the release of Tamil Nadu fishermen and their fishing boats apprehended by the Sri Lankan Navy.
