BUSINESS: CEO Deepinder Goyal on Wednesday said Zomato customers can now ask for the balance of a cash on delivery order, if any, to be added to their ‘Zomato Money’ account, and use it to place future orders or dine out. He thanked Tata Group firm BigBasket for the inspiration behind the solution. “For cash on delivery orders, finding the exact change can sometimes be inconvenient. Starting today, our customers can pay cash to a delivery partner, and ask for the balance to be added to their Zomato Money account instantly. This balance can be used to pay for future delivery orders or dine out,” Goyal said in a post on X (formerly Twitter). “Thanks to @bigbasket_com for the inspiration of this solution, and our delivery partners (three of them working with us as product managers) who insisted we develop it as soon as possible,” the Zomato CEO added. The online food delivery firm last week announced a significant rise in its consolidated net profit, which rose to Rs 253 crore for the quarter ended June 2024, from Rs 2 crore during the same period last year.
