Zirakpur: Taking prompt action to address the problems being faced by commuters using the Baltana Bridge, Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain today directed the Municipal Council to immediately repair and redesign the bridge to prevent recurrent damages to the bridge over Sukhna Choi.
The repair work began this morning.
The DC said the repair work was hampered due to heavy rains for the past few days and it was observed that the bridge was almost submerged. Now, as a temporary measure, after clearing the mud from the bridge, tiling work will be carried out to make it smooth for commuters and railings will be re-installed. He said the ongoing repair work will be completed in the next 10 days. The civic body has also been asked to complete the work as soon as possible, the DC said. In this regard, the drainage department has been directed to assist in redesigning the bridge to solve the problems permanently.
