Z category security to AISF MLA Naushad Siddiqui

Kolkata (IANS) | In the backdrop of large-scale violence in West Bengal’s Bhangar over the nomination process for the upcoming panchayat elections, the Union Home Ministry has decided to provide Z-category security to the All India Secular Front’s (AISF) MLA from Bhangar and the lone party representative in the state. Have decided. On 16 June, Siddiqui wrote to the office of Union Home Minister Amit Shah fearing a threat to his life and sought central assistance for his security.

The matter was referred to the office of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai, who oversees matters relating to security allocation. Sources said the matter was also discussed with Pramanik, another minister of state for home affairs and the BJP MLA from Cooch Behar in West Bengal, whose convoy was attacked twice in the state during four months.

After Pramanik confirmed the veracity of Siddiqui’s apprehension, the central government approved Z-category security. Under this system, Siddiqui will get the cover of 22 security personnel.
