VIJAYAWADA: In a memorandum to Election Commission of India (ECI) officials, who are on a two-day visit to the state, a delegation of YSRC leaders, led by party general secretary V Vijayasai Reddy and Rajamahendravaram MP Margani Bharatram, on Tuesday said voters in the state Six issues were raised on alleged irregularities in the nomination.
The ECI team, including Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, reached Vijayawada on Monday to review the election preparedness in the state ahead of the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections. The officials met representatives of various political parties and received representations from them.
After the meeting, Vijayasai Reddy, who is also a Rajya Sabha MP, explained in detail about the issues discussed with the poll panel. Accusing TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu of resorting to electoral malpractices, he alleged that the yellow party is profiling voters by collecting data of people, including their address, gender, age and caste, the YSRC leader said , “All data collected is stored on a server in New York.”
“TDP had resorted to similar malpractices in the name of Seva Mitra app before the 2014 elections. A case was registered against the developers of the app. However, no action has been initiated till date,” he informed.
The YSRC also filed a complaint against Naidu and TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh for using derogatory language against Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
The YSRC also informed the ECI about Lokesh’s ‘Red Book’ in which he has allegedly listed the names of government officials, especially police officials, who allegedly created obstacles and targeted him and his party leaders. When the Jana Sena chief met the ECI delegation, he asked, “How can the election panel allow JSP, which is not a recognized party, to be part of the delegation of TDP leaders?”
He said he has asked the Election Commission to clarify whether JSP is in alliance with TDP or BJP. “We also pointed out that JSP cannot be given a common election symbol (glass) as it is not contesting from all the 175 assembly constituencies,” he said.
Demanding action against TDP’s Koneru Suresh for filing a large number of complaints against voter cheating and fake votes, Vijayasai Reddy said, “He had claimed that there were 10 lakh fake votes in 175 assembly constituencies. Subsequently, the State Election Commission asked district collectors to look into the complaints, which were later found to be false. Therefore, we have asked the ECI to take action against Suresh.
YSRC also brought to the attention of the ECI the nomination drive allegedly run by the TDP to enroll voters from Telangana for the elections in Andhra Pradesh soon after the elections in the neighboring state were over.
