Puri: A youth has created a mesmerizing art work on Srimandira Ratnabhandar using match sticks. It is to be noted that now Ratnabhandar, the gemstone storehouse inside the famous Lord Jagannath temple in Puri of Odisha is in news as opening of this long locked store house of valuable gems, gold, jewelleries is required.
Young sculptor Biswajit Nayak has created a beautiful piece of artwork of the Ratnabhandar using matchsticks.
A student of B-Tech 3rd year electronics electrical engineering, Nayak has crafted the work reportedly to draw attention of the government to open this store so that its maintenance can be done.
The Ratnabhandar had been opened long back in the year 1978. Many people are of the opinion that now the inner walls of the store need repair. Hence, people of Odisha are anxious to know when it will be opened.
Devotees are also concerned whether the gems inside the Ratnabhandar are safe or not. Hence, reportedly the artist has come up with this work indirectly to request the government to open the same.
According to Nayak, it took him 3 days to create this artwork. Paints, glue and new ice cream sticks have been used to create this work. It is 8 inches tall and 20 inches wide and has been made using 475 ice cream sticks.
