Raigarh. Under the direction of Superintendent of Police (SP) Divyang Patel, the crackdown on drug traffickers is continuing. In this sequence, Chakradhar Nagar police arrested Dheeraj Bareth, a resident of Indira Nagar, who was secretly selling narcotic injections on the riverbank in the Panjri Plant Marine Drive area. During police patrolling, the suspect was apprehended on the information of an informant. A search revealed eight pentazocine injections (₹232) in his pocket.
During interrogation, the accused revealed that he purchased the injections for ₹100 each from Kishan Agarwal, a resident of Brijrajnagar, Odisha, and Chandrakant Nishad alias Babu of Indira Nagar, Raigarh, and sold them to drug users for ₹150 to ₹200.
The police also seized ₹300 from the accused for two injections already sold. Judicial action has been taken against the arrested accused, Dheeraj Bareth, son of Kanhaiya Bareth, age 19, a resident of Bhola Gali, Indira Nagar, City Kotwali Police Station, by registering a case under sections 22 and 29 of the NDPS Act at Chakradhar Nagar Police Station. The action involved Sub-Inspector Gendalal Sahu, Assistant Sub-Inspector Nand Kumar Sarathi, Head Constable Shyamdev Sahu, Constable Abhay Narayan Yadav, Chandrakumar Banjare, and Minketan Patel.
