Kanpur: Tired of harassment by a police inspector in Kanpur, UP, 28-year-old Danish Khan, a resident of Mirpur, committed suicide by lying in front of a train under Shiv Narayan Tandon bridge on Mall Road on Friday night. Police have recovered a four-page suicide note from him, in which he has accused Begumpurwa outpost in-charge Majid Ahmed, sister and brother-in-law of harassing him by implicating him in a fake case. A complaint has been lodged in the matter at Railbazar police station.
Danish’s brother Lavi told that Danish used to do trading work with Sartaj Ahmed, resident of Babupurwa, husband of sister Anjum. There was a dispute between the two regarding money transactions. Sartaj had filed an FIR on the court’s order in Babupurwa police station on September 9 this year by making his wife Anjum the plaintiff. It was alleged that Danish and his mother Raisha together stole four lakh rupees and gold jewellery from Anjum’s house on July 20. Lavi alleges that Begumpurwa outpost in-charge and investigator Majid Ahmed was threatening Danish in connivance with Sartaj. Majid used to say that give one lakh rupees now and pay the rest gradually. Due to this stress, he committed suicide. DCP East Shravan Kumar said that a suicide note has been found, action will be taken if found guilty in the investigation.
A youth fed up with police harassment in Railbazar committed suicide by jumping in front of a train. Danish Khan’s family includes mother Raisha Begum, two brothers Lavi, Faheem Khan and two sisters Nazia, Anjum Begum. Danish’s father Abdul Rafiq died a long time ago. Both his sisters are married. Brother Lavi told that in the suicide note found with Danish, it is written that he died due to harassment from Majid, Anjum and Sartaj.
