Odisha: A serious incident of violence unfolded in the Busy Giri Market area of Berhampur, Odisha, on Monday evening. Two miscreants fatally attacked a young man and his female friend. A video of the incident has gone viral on social media, causing panic and outrage in the area.
According to reports, the incident occurred around 9 p.m. when the young man and his female friend went to a food stall in the market area. The two were standing there eating normally when two young men suddenly arrived and attacked them without warning. Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers were armed with hockey sticks and wooden batons and immediately began targeting the young man.
The young man suffered serious injuries during the attack and fell to the ground. The attackers continued to attack him even afterward. It is reported that the young man continued to scream for help while groaning in pain, but the attackers ignored him. His female friend tried to save him, but the attackers allegedly attacked her as well, and continued to target both of them.
According to eyewitnesses, one attacker repeatedly attacked the young man’s head and back, while the other attacked his legs. The entire incident occurred in a public place where many people were present. However, according to eyewitnesses, no one attempted to intervene, which further emboldened the attackers, who continued to attack.
Following the incident, both injured were immediately rushed to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur with the help of local residents, where they are undergoing treatment. Doctors report the young man’s condition is reported to be critical, while his female friend also sustained injuries.
