Bhongir: A peacock that was mauled by a pack of street dogs was found dead near a bus stop located in the Yadadri hill sanctuary on Wednesday.
A man named Gujja Bhaskar saw the real peacock dead near a bus stop near Kalyana Katta on the hill below the sanctuary on Wednesday morning and informed the Yadagirigutta police.
On receiving the information, Forest Department officials reached the spot and inspected the surrounding area. A medical veterinarian also conducted the autopsy of the dead peacock.
According to forest department officials, the post-mortem report has found injury marks on the peacock’s body, making it appear that it died after being attacked by street dogs. They suspected that the real peacock might have reached that place from the hill in search of food.
