New Delhi (IANS) | Regarding the allegations of sexual harassment leveled by women wrestlers on Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, former President of Wrestling Federation of India, the government has been claiming from the beginning that the wrestlers are being listened to and the law is taking its course in this whole matter. Despite this, the manner in which the issue of wrestlers caught fire and the manner in which pictures of wrestlers being dragged on May 28 went viral in the country as well as abroad, due to which the deteriorating image of India at the international level has worried the government. Is done. This is the reason why the government has now again started its efforts to settle this dispute of wrestlers as soon as possible. Under these efforts, first Union Home Minister Amit Shah met the wrestlers and now Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur has also invited the wrestlers for talks again.
If sources are to be believed, the government wants that an FIR has been registered in this matter, the Delhi Police has also started the investigation and now if the allegations against the guilty person are proved through the legal process, then the court will punish the guilty. But unnecessary political rhetoric and sit-in demonstrations on this issue should stop now because it is tarnishing the image of India at the international level as well. If sources are to be believed, Delhi Police’s investigation is in its final stage and its report may come soon.
The situation on this issue is becoming increasingly uncomfortable for both the government and the BJP. On May 28, pictures of wrestlers being dragged are going viral in the country as well as across the world. After the Khap Panchayats got involved in this dispute, there was a danger of a farmer’s movement like situation, even the danger of Jat voters getting angry with the BJP had arisen.
The role of women voters has been very important in the BJP’s electoral victory, but due to the issue of sexual exploitation of women wrestlers, the risk of their being scattered was increasing.
It was becoming difficult even for the women MPs of BJP to answer on this. BJP’s woman MP Pritam Munde even gave a statement that the complaint of women wrestlers should be immediately considered. Some other BJP MPs also had to go to their respective parliamentary constituencies and make similar statements.
If sources are to be believed, the government has made it clear that the investigation and legal process will be completely fair but now politics should stop on this. The talks between the wrestlers and the government are also expected to resume after the sports minister’s invitation.
If high-level sources are to be believed, the government is trying to settle the dispute before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the US this month.
