Bhubaneswar: The World Odia Language Conference and Ekamra Utsav 2024 was inaugurated by CM Naveen Patnaik in Bhubaneswar on Saturday, reliable reports said. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has directed all concerned departments to work in coordination with the Department of Language, Literature and Culture for the grand success of the conference. In this conference there will be many logical and mysterious explanations of the antiquity and future relevance of the Oriya language. Oriya linguists living abroad will participate in various stages of discussion on the antiquity and continuity of the Oriya language. In the first such conference, there will be a comprehensive discussion on the origin, development and popularity of Oriya language. Besides this, experts will give data-based presentations on past, present and future aspects of Odia language till February 5. Ekamra Utsav, a vibrant festival celebrating the rich tapestry of Odia language and culture, will also begin from today and continue till February 9. The festival, which is being organized by the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), coincides with the first.

Consisting of three distinct components, the Ekamra Utsav promises a variety of experiences. The main event, Sangeetara Murchana, will be held at the IDCO Exhibition Ground, featuring captivating performances by acclaimed artists from the country and the region. This cultural fest will enthrall the attendees with live music, band performances and various other forms of performing arts. All the performances will be based on Oriya language and culture.

Additionally, the Ekmara Haat (Night Flea Market of Ekmara Utsav) is scheduled from 3rd to 9th February 2024 and will take place from 4pm to 11pm daily at the Ekmara Expo area in Bhubaneswar. Reports say that a drone show will also be organized to mark both the World Odia Language Conference and the Ekamra Utsav.
