Workers disrupted traffic on the highway, pedestrians troubled by traffic jam

Dongargaon. Hundreds of MNREGA workers of Arjuni Gram Panchayat of Dongargaon block suddenly blocked the Rajnandgaon-Dongargaon State Highway on Thursday. The number of women laborers who protested demanding increase in wages was high. Traffic between Rajnandgaon-Dongargaon came to a standstill due to traffic jam on the state highway. Big goods vehicles coming from Dongargaon stopped.

The administration was shocked by the news of sudden traffic jam during the Lok Sabha elections. Immediately Dongargaon SDM Manoj Markam and police station in-charge Upendra Shah reached the spot. Police force was also deployed on the spot. It is being told that the workers created a blockade demanding increase in the MNREGA wages. The blockade ended after the persuasion of the SDM and other officials. The administration assured to seriously consider their demands after the Lok Sabha elections.
