Woman gives birth to baby on Murdeshwar-Bengaluru Express, gets help at station

Karnataka: A pregnant woman gave birth to a baby while traveling on the SMVT Express train from Murudeshwar to Bengaluru in Mangaluru. The incident occurred on Sunday night when train number 16586 was stopped at Bantwal railway station, about 20 kilometers from Mangaluru.

According to reports, the woman was traveling in the general coach. During the journey, her health suddenly deteriorated and she began experiencing severe pain and profuse bleeding. Seeing the situation worsen, fellow passengers immediately informed railway staff.

As soon as the train arrived at Bantwal station, railway staff and passengers on board began assisting the woman. Efforts were immediately made to manage the situation with the first aid available at the station. During this time, the woman delivered a baby on the train.

Railway staff responded promptly and played a key role in ensuring a safe delivery. Passengers present at the scene also cooperated and helped control the situation. After providing initial assistance, both the mother and newborn were taken to the nearest health center for necessary medical attention.

According to local sources, other passengers on the train were also panicked at the time of the incident, but the situation was quickly brought under control due to the promptness of the railway staff. The medical assistance team present at the station was immediately called.

Railway officials stated that in such emergency situations, the safety and health of passengers is of utmost priority. In this incident, the staff demonstrated both humanity and duty by making quick decisions.

After the incident, the train was stopped for a short time so that the woman and newborn could be safely transported to the hospital. The train then departed for its onward journey.
