Woman gives birth to a child in TGSRTC bus

Hyderabad: A woman delivered a baby while travelling in a Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) bus on Friday. The woman conductor and other women passengers in the bus also helped.

According to TGSRTC, a passenger named Swetha Ratnam gave birth to a baby girl while travelling in a 1Z bus. She had started her journey from Musheerabad and started experiencing labour pain near Bahadurpura. With the help of TGSRTC conductor R Saroja and other women passengers in the bus, she delivered a healthy baby girl.

TGSRTC Managing Director, V C Sajjanar congratulated conductor Saroja and other women co-passengers in the bus for their humanitarian intervention. Sajjanar posted on X, “It is said that the mother and child are safe due to timely response. It is commendable that the RTC staff is showing a spirit of service while safely transporting passengers to their destination.”

The MD informed that both the baby and the mother are healthy in the nearby government maternity hospital, where they have been shifted for medical assistance.

In a similar incident, TGSRTC provided lifetime free bus travel to an infant born at Karimnagar bus station on June 16. The newborn baby’s TGSRTC lifetime pass was gifted to the child’s mother, Kumari, at an event held at Bus Bhavan in Hyderabad on June 19.
