Dakshina Kannada (IANS) | A woman, the mother of an 11-month-old child, ran away from home to meet her lover in Puttur town of the district using the free bus travel facility. According to the police, upon learning about the woman’s affair, the family restricted her movement, and deprived her of money and mobile phone. The woman, a resident of Hubli, had fallen in love with a local boy working as a laborer in Puttur. Her family opposed this relationship and got her married to someone else.
She was sent to her maternal home for delivery. Despite the marriage, she maintained a relationship with her lover.
The lover had called her to Puttur to start a new life together. The woman claimed that she did not have a penny.
However, as soon as the free travel scheme was announced, the woman boarded a free government bus on June 13 and went to her lover.
The parents followed her to Puttur as they knew she would be there. On enquiry, it was found that his daughter’s boyfriend was also missing from Kadambadi village, where he used to work.
A complaint has been lodged with the Puttur police regarding the matter. During investigation, the police come to know that the eloped woman and her lover are in Siddakatte village.
