Nayagarh: Tension erupted at a private hospital in Nayagarh district of Odisha following the death of a woman after childbirth, with her family alleging medical negligence on Tuesday.
The deceased woman has been identified as Sunia Nayak of Bodasa village, who was admitted to the private hospital after she complaint of labour pains.
According to her family members, Sunia gave birth to a baby boy at around 2 PM. However, her health condition reportedly deteriorated later in the night around 9 PM.
The family alleged that despite repeated attempts, the attending doctor did not arrive to examine her when her health worsened. They further claimed that the doctor came only on Wednesday morning and advised shifting the patient to Bhubaneswar for advanced treatment. By then, Sunia had already died, the family alleged.
Following the incident, tension prevailed at the hospital premises as the family members and locals accused the hospital authorities of gross negligence. They demanded strict action against those responsible and sought compensation for the deceased woman’s family.
Meanwhile, Nayagarh Police reached the spot after getting information and initiated an investigation into the matter.
