Bengaluru: A brutal incident took place in the capital of Karnataka, Bengaluru. An elderly woman was brutally murdered in front of her husband. The incident took place in Neelamangala, Kote Beedi area, Bengaluru. The deceased has been identified as Shobha (70). The accused killed her by slitting her throat. According to the police report, an elderly couple named Ranganath and Shobha live alone. They have no children. The husband Ranganath has been suffering from health problems like paralysis for several years. He has been confined to a wheelchair and bed for the past 15 years. However, since they did not have a shortage of money, Shobha used to wear jewelry a lot.
Moreover, since her father was the owner of a jewelry shop, there was no shortage of gold. However, wearing jewelry like this, being alone without children, and her husband’s paralysis seem to have led to her murder. Shiva Kumar, the owner of a nearby wholesale shop, caught sight of her jewelry. With this, he barged into their house at 1.03 am and searched for money and jewelry. But, he did not find anything in the house. With this, he slit Shobha’s throat to kill her to take the jewelry she was wearing. He also killed her in front of her husband. He killed her knowing that her husband was paralyzed and could not move. Later, Shiva Kumar took away the gold chain, gold bangles and other jewelry on her body. The weight of this jewelry was 450 grams and its value was Rs. 65 lakhs.
